Born on 7 February 1962 in Derby. Moved to Alvaston in 1965
went to Boulton Infants and Junior Schools then to Noel Baker. Left Noel baker
in 1980 and went to the then Trent polytechnic and did a BA honours degree in
public administration.
Graduated in 1984 worked in retail for a year then worked at
Hazlewood Foods for 18 months. Moved on to work for McConnells Advertising
& Public relations for 26 years-becoming a director of the company. Leader
of the Labour Group 2010 to 2014. Spent 2 years working full time as the Leader
of Derby City Council 2012-14. In the last 2 years has worked as a free-lance
marketing consultant in the voluntary sector before taking up an appointment
with Derbyshire Police in their contact centre.
Married twice and divorced once. Has two grown up daughters
and 3 grandchildren.
Elected a councillor for Alvaston in 1996. Served as the
Councillor with a break of one year 2006 to 2007, since then. This year 2017 is
Paul’s 20th year of elected service.
Interests in military and political history and follows
Derby County & Derbyshire County Cricket clubs. He is known to like the odd
pint of real ale and he and his current wife do like travelling the world.
