John is a recently retired businessman having been a partner in a local electronic security installation company. He previously served as a Councillor on Derby City Council for 15 years and was honoured to be Mayor in 1991/2. John returned as Councillor for Mickleover Ward at the May 2011 elections and is delighted to be on the Board of Derby Homes. During his previous time as a Councillor, the City Council itself carried out all the work involved in administration/maintenance of its council houses and at that time he could see the advantages of an arms length organisation, as Derby Homes is, taking over these duties. John believes that this enables more focus in providing the best service to its customers and the interaction with its tenants is far superior. As a Board Member, his main priority is to make sure there is a continual improvement in both services offered and the relationship between Derby Homes and its tenants.
